DACBSP® Examination Policy

Effective April 24, 1992

1.         Any Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician/Practitioner® (CCSP®) having successfully completed the additional minimum of 200 hours postgraduate education in the DACBSP Program, from an accredited chiropractic college, may be eligible to take the written examination.  The examination process for the DACBSP designation shall consist of two (2) independent examinations, one written and one practical.  The written examination must be successfully completed before the applicant may take the practical examination.

2.         There is an application fee for each section of the examination, and $50 of this amount is non-refundable.

3.         An application may be obtained from your college’s postgraduate office, or by contacting the Board Secretary of the ACBSP™.  All application materials must be received no less than 45 days prior to the anticipated test date.  Complete directions are found on the application.  All applicants must have in their possession an admission certificate in order to be admitted to the examination site.  Anyone not in possession of such a certificate will not be permitted to take the examination.

4.         The written examination is prepared and scored by an examination service and administered by the ACBSP.  You will be notified of your test results by letter following your written examination.

5.         The practical examination is prepared and administered by the ACBSP.  You will be notified of your test results by letter following your practical examination.

6.         After successfully completing the written and practical examinations, the practical field experience requirement, and fulfilling the written requirement, a certificate will be issued in approximately eight (8) weeks.

7.         If you fail either the written or practical examination you may be re-examined at a subsequent examination by reapplying.  There is a re-application fee.  Each exam may be taken a maximum of three (3) times before additional educational hours are required by the ACBSP.

8.         Candidates must successfully complete the written examination within three (3) years from the date of completion of the DACBSP program.

9.         The ACBSP may offer one or more official testing dates per year.  Testing dates will be published on the ACBSP website and will also be available by contacting the Board Secretary.

10.        Without documented medical emergency, no refund of exam fees will be made unless a written notice of withdrawal is received at least two weeks prior to the examination date.  Individuals filing withdrawal notices received 14-28 days prior to the examination will receive a 50 percent refund.

11.        Candidates enrolled in courses leading to eligibility for the DACBSP examination will be held to the existing policy at the time of their initial enrollment in the program as long as course attendance is consistent.
