Annual Certification Maintenance

To maintain your CCSP® or DACBSP® certification, you must complete sports related continuing education hours annually, maintain CPR certification, and fulfill other key requirements. This ensures that all certificants remain up-to-date with the latest in sports medicine practices and standards.

Certificants have until December 31, 2025, to complete all CEU hours.

 

Policy change February 2024:

“The ACBSP™ shall require certificants to demonstrate evidence of training to recognize, reduce, and respond to all misconduct in sport (i.e., SafeSport or comparable program) as a one-time requirement to maintain certification.”

CCSP® Requirements

  • CCSP® certificants must complete 12 hours of continuing education in sports medicine each year. (Certificants have until December 31, 2025, to complete all CEU hours.)
  • Maintain an active healthcare provider-level CPR certification
  • All certificants must complete “misconduct in sport” 
  • All certificants must complete a certification maintenance registration form annually

 

DACBSP® Requirements

  • DACBSP® certificants are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education in sports medicine annually. (Certificants have until December 31, 2025, to complete all CEU hours.)
  • Maintain an active healthcare provider-level CPR certification
  • All certificants must complete “misconduct in sport” 
  • All certificants must complete a certification maintenance registration form annually

If the annual certification maintenance fee is paid before January 31, the fee is $135.

If paid February 1 – June 30, the fee is $160.

If you are full-time faculty, please contact the National Office to receive a promo code before completing the form below. You must submit proof of full-time faculty status to receive the promo code via fax at (888) 419-9990 or email at [email protected]. A letter from the department chair or dean stating full-time faculty status for the current calendar year is required. This letter is required on an annual basis and must be submitted to the National Office before completing this form to receive a discount on your certification maintenance fee.

If the fee is not paid by June 30, the certification is placed in an inactive status and the doctor’s name and information is removed from the online certificant directory and the doctor is no longer permitted to use the credential.

Weekly reminders will be sent to all certificants that have not completed the certification maintenance registration form. Once a completed form is received, certificants will be removed from the email list.
